Getting started online is a way to work from home, or from wherever you happen to be. There is quite a bit of discussion as to how you can build a profitable and successful online business, but I believe in keeping it very simple. It turns out there are really only three things you need in order to start your online business. These are a domain name, hosting, and an autoresponder service.
A domain name provides you with the opportunity to set up a website that is owned and operated by you. I’ve seen too many people try to get started with their Internet business by using a site that belongs to someone else. While this offer of free space on the Internet may be tempting, steer clear and spend the ten dollars or so to register at least one domain name that is yours. Choose one that contains the keyword phrase that describes your niche, as well as one for your name to begin building credibility and visibility for yourself.
Since you are going to host your website or blog anyway, a domain can be included with your hosting account, so check the next section.
Your domain name must live somewhere, and that’s where hosting comes in. There are several companies that offer what we need in order to do business online. This is referred to as c-panel, which is just short for control panel. This means that you can set up WordPress on your domain with just a couple of mouse clicks, and that you will have access to everything you need when it comes to the technical side of the business. This typically costs about seven dollars each month for an unlimited number of domains, or seventy-five dollars a year if you choose to pay on an annual basis.
I use Bluehost for my hosting. One domain name is included in the package. Here is my affiliate link to Bluehost.
Finally, you will need an autoresponder service to build a list of interested prospects and to stay in touch with them through email. There are a few companies that offer this service, so choose one based on the recommendation of the coach or mentor you are working with. Spend some time going through the tutorials so that you will learn how to set up your emails and the mechanics of this process. Everyone makes mistakes in the beginning, so do not feel bad if this seems to be a confusing process. Once you have your domain, your hosting account, and your autoresponder service you are ready to move into the next phase of running your business. This is the beginning of building a lucrative online business that will grow for years to come.
I am using Aweber for my autoresponder. Here’s my affiliate link to Aweber where you can try for free for a month.
